The standard we build to

This site is built to target WCAG 2.2 Level AA. That is the target, not a certification: no independent audit has been carried out.

What is built in

• Every text and background pairing is checked against the AA contrast threshold before it is used, and the measurements are kept in the stylesheet
• A skip link, so keyboard users can jump straight past the navigation
• A visible focus outline on everything that can be focused
• The mobile menu is a proper dialog: it traps focus while open and closes on Escape
• The homepage carousel can be paused, and stops moving entirely if your system asks for reduced motion
• Form errors are announced to screen readers, not only shown in colour
• Colour is never the only way information is given — anything distinguished by colour is also labelled
• Headings run in order on every page, with one main heading each

What we have not finished

The site has not yet been tested end to end with a screen reader, and it has not been reviewed by anyone outside the team that built it. Both are planned before launch.

Until that is done, this statement describes intent and implementation rather than verified conformance.
